The Boat
SeaSalt Charters will be taking you out on the motor vessel Kupala. Named after Capt. Avellar’s daughter, the Kupala is a Coast Guard certified, 28’ Parker boat powered by twin 250 Mercury Verado outboards. She has been serviced meticulously by the fine workers at Nauset Marine in Orleans, MA, where she has also been redesigned to meet the specific needs of Whale Watching.
The Kupala has a deep-vee hull and displaces over 2 tons, which make her very seaworthy. However with all the power behind her she can make over 35 knots which gets you more quality time watching whales and fishing in the productive waters off Cape Cod. She impressively has over 90 square feet of open deck space on the stern, where you will find ample seating. The forward pilothouse, open to you as well and equipped with the most sophisticated electronic equipment, leads to a v-berth where the marine toilet is. There is even deck space on the bow, which, up to discretion of the captain will be available to lounge out on as well.
Capt. Avellar’s obsession with fishing and his dream of taking people out on private whale watches led him to this boat. It is the perfect boat to explore the waters off Cape Cod; just ask around.
